How to Play

Play Virtual Drums game online for free. Virtual Drums is an interactive 5-piece drum set that can be played on mobile, tablet, and PC browser. You can record any beat you play and download it into your computer. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

  • Starting the Game
    • As soon as the page loads, it shows the complete drum set on the screen.
    • Simply tap or click on a drum icon to sound a beat. There are 10 drum buttons on the screen.
    • You’ll notice drum sounds have different variations. Beginners should familiarize themselves with each drum implement.
    • You can start playing and experimenting with drum beats and patterns when you see the drum buttons load.
    • On the bottom of the screen are three buttons:
      • The first button on the left is a red play button. Press this when you want to start recording a beat pattern. You can record drum beats for as long as you need.
      • The red play button will keep blinking to show that it’s recording your beats.
      • Once you’re done, press the stop button. This is the second button at the bottom middle part of the screen.
      • The stop button is round with a square shape in the center. It will turn green while you are recording.
      • Once you’re done recording, simply select the stop button and it will turn gray again.
      • The last button at the bottom right of the screen is a down arrow button. Select this to download the drum beat you recorded.
      • Wait for your download to complete. The drum beat is recorded as a Web Media Audio format. Save this in your folder.
      • The recorded drum beats can be played in any music player, such as Windows Media Player, Apple QuickTime, iTunes, and VLC Player 2.
      • Game Controls
        • Touchscreen
          • Using your finger, simply tap any drum icon on your tablet, mobile, or touchscreen PC.
          • You can tap any drum implement simultaneously with two fingers.
          • You can compose a drum pattern or beat like you would for an actual song.
          • This virtual drum simulator is ideal for touchscreen devices because it enables you to use both hands to tap the drum buttons.
          • The beat recording function is not supported on touchscreen device.
            • Mouse
              • Using your mouse, left click on any drum icon on your screen. One click results in one drum beat.
              • The mouse cursor only provides one way to sound the drums. It does not use keyboard controls to hit any of the drum implements.
              • Because of the mouse cursor’s limitation, you can only hit one drum at a time.
              • You can still time your drum beats but it won’t be as responsive as using two fingers unlike in a touchscreen device.
              • You may record your drumbeats and it will be download into your PC.
              • Strategy for Use
                • When this drum beat simulator loads, you’ll immediately see 5 drum implements on screen.
                • Besides practicing drum beats and timing for rhythm, use this virtual drum kit to record your very own drum patterns.
                • This music application allows you to save practice beats you made for later reference. You can even use it as a drum element for your own music when you record and mix using digital audio editing tools.
                • For beginners, you should get to know basic drum elements to get a sense of how different each on sounds.
                • The following are drums you’ll find in this 5-piece virtual drum kit (from the top, left to right):
                  • 1st, left cymbal: Crash cymbal
                  • 2nd, right cymbal: Ride cymbal
                  • 3rd, left drum: High tom
                  • 4th, middle drum: Middle tom
                  • 5th, right drum: Low tom / Floor Tom
                  • 6th, left cymbal: Open high-hat cymbal
                  • 7th, right cymbal: Closed high-hat cymbal
                  • 8th, left drum: Snare drum
                  • 9th, right drum: Rimshot
                  • 10th, bottom: Bass drum
                  • In this drum simulator, the the crash cymbal is right next to the ride cymbal. These are first row of icons on the screen.
                    • The crash cymbal has a sustained reverberating sound, while the ride cymbal has a lower register sound that does not reverberate in a sustained manner.
                    • The second row are the tom drums. The left one is the high tom, the one in the center is the middle tom, and the last one is the low tom.
                      • You’ll notice a high beat from the high tom, middle beat from the middle tom, and low register beat from the low tom. This differences in beat tones make drum patterns more interesting.
                      • The third row consist of high-hat cymbals. The left cymbal is an open one, while the right cymbal is a closed one.
                        • An open high-hat cymbal reverberates low with a sustained moderate sound. The close high-hat cymbal, on the other hand, simply sounds like one solid stick beat.
                        • The fourth row consists of the snare drum on the left and the rimshot drum on the right.
                          • The snare drum makes a sharp staccato beat, while the rimshot produces an accented snare drum backbeat.
                          • Finally, the fifth row consists of the bass drum. This drum produces the lowest pitch out of all the other drum implements in the set.
