How to Play

Play Scooby Doo Castle Hassle online for free. Castle Hassle is a game where you control Scooby Doo and Shaggy on the rooftop throwing supplies down to Velma, Daphne and Fred. Watch out for the ghost and bonk him on the head with an anvil before he comes and gets you. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

  • Starting the Game
    • Click the play button on the game’s welcome screen to start the game.
    • The welcome screen also has a how to play button linking to gameplay instructions.
    • Your web browser automatically stores your high score.
    • Game Controls
      • Desktop
        • Use the left and right arrows to align Shaggy above the window where a person is leaning out.
          • If a monster is in the window drop an anvil on their head.
          • If the person is a member of the Scooby Doo Gang then drop them the items they request.
          • Item requests are shown at the beginning of each level.
          • You drop items by clicking on the associated buttons.
            • On touchscreen devices you use your finger like a mouse.
            • Game Play
              • Levels
                • Levels start off simple and grow more complex over time.
                  • For example, on the first level you only need to give Velma her glasses while defending yourself from the monster & the first level only lasts a minute.
                  • The second level still has you give Velma her glasses, but also has you give Daphne her purse. The level lasts a minute and third seconds.
                  • On the third level you have to still help Velma and Daphne, and you also have to give Fred the net to help him capture the ghost monster.
                  • Scoring Points
                    • Each monster you hit with an anvil is worth 50 points.
                    • Each item you deliver to a member of the gang is worth 100 points.
                    • If you drop an anvil on a member of the gang you lose 100 points.
                    • Dying
                      • Each time the monster is not hit quickly enough he moves up a level. After he is not hit while on the third floor he runs to the castle roof to get you.
                      • In this game you start with a can of spray paint which can be used 3 times to block the monster.
                      • If you use up all your spray paint on the first level then the first time the monster comes to the roof in the next level you lose.
                      • Strategy
                        • After the ghost gets to the third floor you should spend almost the entire game focused on him until the level is beat.
                          • Your character pauses for a bit to throw each item down.
                          • It takes time to move back and forth and if you are moving more than one square across then what typically happens is you will drop someone an item which lands near them right after they left the window and you will be a fraction of a second too late to hit the monster.
                          • Repeatedly doing the “just missed” sequence is rather frustrating.
                          • Another issue with targeting multiple items is you then have to move where the mouse cursor is located and focus on that part of the screen while the ghost might come out elsewhere and be hard to get back to in time.
                          • Audience
                            • This game is suitable for all ages.
                              • For how simple the game is the difficulty level is higher than one would think it would be given how quickly one has to time moving back and forth.
                              • There are no adult themes in this game.
